2 weeks agoDear Oriental Group, I visited Oriental Pavilion, PJ 33 on 8 January 2026 with my family at around 7.30pm and ordered some food for dinner after a long day at work. I will attach the receipt for the food ordered down below. So since I like Patin, I ordered steam Patin for us to try thinking it will be as good as it does in other prestigious restaurants. To our horror, the food arrived late as we had to wait about 30 mins when the place is only occupied by a few tables. I had to ask when the food was going to come as we were getting rather hungry. In 10 minutes, all dishes except the Steamed Patin had arrived and we were enjoying it. So when the fish arrived a while later, I scooped the stomach area for myself and the rest of the body parts for my family members. I could taste that it wasn’t as fresh as it should be and it had some smell coming from it. I decided to try other parts of the fish and the smell lingered on the body. So I called the Captain who took my order, she took a small amount of fish for her manager and chef to try and the manager (Elaine Liew) came to me saying that this is normal smell for Patin, expecting me to accept this kind of standard for steamed fish. I went on to tell her that this was my first time tasting Patin with such strong smell and it didn’t taste fresh only then she told me it was frozen! She even went on to tell me that if I want to have fresh fish, I should’ve chosen Soon Hock or some other kind of fish. Instead of apologising for the lack of freshness in your fish dish, you tell your customers to choose fresher fishes? How in the world do I know that you had stale fish in your freezer??? Does this make any sense to you? Even in Unique Seafood, they once served stale crab, they did not even try to taste the crab and immediately made a new one for us because they value quality in their food and service but not you. Not even an offer to change the dish or replace the fish, just a quick dismissal of the issue. Maybe Oriental Groups’ standard has fallen, I didn’t expect you to train your staff to speak like that to clients. No wonder your restaurant was super empty!!! I’m not sure how such a disgraceful approach can take place and for it to be carried out by a manager would be more embarrassing than any other staffs at the banquet hall. Oriental Pavilion PJ33, you can do better than promoting unskillful and unprofessional people as managers, please improve your standards of food for such atrocious prices. Elaine
