Coconut ice cream is a must have in Chatuchak Weekend Market. Even if you did not plan on having it, eventually you would end up buying one because of the hot weather. Besides, they are affordably priced between 30 and 50 baht per serving so there’s really no reason not to indulge in a little frozen treat.
Generally there are two kinds of coconut ice cream stalls in Chatuchak Weekend Market. One of them is something like Coco JJ, a more established brand that offers a huge scoop of coconut ice cream with two kinds of toppings for 50 baht. Then, any additional topping is chargeable at 5 baht each.
If you are a first timer here, Coco JJ is definitely a safe choice. They have a few stalls spread out in the market so you don’t need to specifically hunt it out.
The other version you can try lets you have enjoy a ‘topping buffet’. That means you get to choose and add as many (and as much) topping as you want for a fixed price – as long as the ice cream holds.
You can also opt to have it in a cup (30 baht) or in a coconut shell (40 baht). The difference is not much, except that you may get a better looking photo if you picked the latter.
Stalls like this are also everywhere so to pick one, look at the selection and freshness of the toppings. We picked this seller simply because his stall is one of the cleaner ones around. Plus, he’s friendly and polite.
