Pool – Clearwater Residence
Clearwater Residence, Damansara Heights
Stepping into Clearwater Residence we leave the stresses of city life behind. Expertly designed, the clean open spaces of the serviced apartments encourage peaceful thoughts and calm breathing.
LobbyFinding inspiration in the quote, “Shrug off the constraints you have allowed others to place upon you,” written by a poet under the pseudonym, Clearwater, the architect echoes this mantra in the creative concept of the building. Architect, conceptualist and founding partner, Sim Boon Yang, is a multiple award winner, with honours such as “Best Design and Architect Award” for the luxurious W Retreat and Spa in the Maldives in his resume. His expertise and poetic modernism are revealed in the human habitats he describes as encapsulating “the simple pleasures of being home.”
Clearwater Residence ReceptionThe reception, an expansive area, epitomizes the luxury of space. Lofty ceilings, an uncluttered lounge, glass walls and uncomplicated lines are our first observations and, we soon find the theme continues seamlessly throughout the rest of the building. Even the elevators are thoughtfully fashioned. Tall enclosures feature patterned metal and shiny stainless steel walls. Wide hallways and enormous doors also preserve the motif.
Even the Lifts Have Style108 luxurious units are available within the 18 storey complex. Our loft apartment reaches over two floors, with a master and guest bedroom, three bathrooms, a study, kitchen, lounge, patio and laundry, composing a stylish place to reside.
Cool greys and warm woods in contemporary furnishings complement the rich dark floors and ivory walls. Black and white photographs, simply framed supply interest to the blank surfaces, without complicating the space.
A sizable day bed and lounge, bordering the balcony with its double storey windows, beckons to be lolled on, with a glass of fine red wine in one hand and a good book in the other. With those dreamy thoughts in mind we store our nibbles and bottle in the fridge and hook up some funky jazz tunes to thrum while we explore the rest of the apartment.
The kitchen is suitably equipped. Full size fridge, microwave oven, cooking hob and oven, basic crockery, cutlery and a few pans supply the basics. You can either impress your partner with your chef-like skill or opt to dine at PLOY restaurant on the ground floor and receive a 10% discount. Way Modern Chinois is another tempting option with both creative cocktails at the bar and Truffle Roasted Duck in the restaurant not to be missed. If I lived here, the Way Modern Chinois bar would be seeing quite a lot of me.
KitchenA washer-dryer occupies the area behind the kitchen, with a toilet, shower and separate laundry room providing more than enough space to take care of the washing.
The living area consists of a dining table large enough for six. It unfolds out to the lounge, with an LCD TV connected to Astro and local TV channels, and further on to the verandah. Fawn curtains soften light streaming through the floor to ceiling windows and, a use of simple decoration lifts the modern lines. I’m in awe at the height of the glass and start wondering how I’d clean those things. I soon learn though that a housekeeping service is provided twice a week, so if living here, it wouldn’t be my worry.
Living and Dining AreaWe’re supposed to have free broadband WIFI in the apartment but the system is down. There’s too much to occupy our day anyway, so we’re okay to avoid the distraction. Modern technology makes us feel safe with a video intercom connected to the security guard house, manned 24 hours a day.
StudyA glass railing lines the staircase, leading to the second floor while maintaining the open, bright and airy ambience conveyed throughout the entire building. A guest bedroom and bathroom are found at the top of the steps, while a study to the left benefits from the enormity of the space, looking over the transparent patio to the room below.
Guest BedroomDark wooden floors contrast the snow-white linens in the master bedroom. Later on we find the bed soft and inducive of a sound night’s sleep. Bedside lamps bestow gentle illumination when the main lights are switched off. A wall length closet is sublime in its dimensions, with inbuilt safe for added protection. It’s a grand area, which feels uncluttered and modern.
Master BedroomTwo mirrors drop from the ceiling above double basins, making us both happy thinking that we don’t have to share. Some soaking time is already being penciled in, in our minds when we spot the free standing tub further in. Our shower doubles up as a steam room, enabling us to enjoy a steam bath in the privacy of our room, no need to visit the common facilities.
Master BathroomThe amenities however are not to be dismissed. BE Urban Wellness, in the adjoining tower, houses a full range of health and relaxation conveniences. Spanning over three floors, guests may use a rooftop infinity pool boasting spectacular views of the city skyline, a high tech gymnasium and a sumptuous spa. The state-of-the-art set up is one of the best in the city.
Exercise with a ViewBE Urban GymA business centre is available for hire adjoining the principle reception. Residents can also take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service that runs during the working week to Bangsar LRT Station, Bangsar Village, Bangsar Shopping Centre and KL Sentral.
Business RoomThe only challenge with trialing a luxurious apartment such as Clearwater Residence, is that we now want to renovate our own humble home. Maybe we can move into the serviced units while our own makeover is under way?
Reason to visit: spacious modern units with a stylish clean cut design; use of the luxurious spa and relaxation facilities of BE Urban Wellness; bars and restaurants literally on the doorstep; convenient location; spectacular views from the recreational facilities.
