BLVD House @ Persiaran KLCC – Flaming Chicken and Great Steaks.

“The place is gorgeous and check out those revolving doors!” I exclaimed to my friend.

Watermelon & Carrot Juice (Rm12).For starters, we shared a serving of Truffle Infused Fries (Rm15), that came with sprinkles of cheese and truffle on top. Delicious! The Mexicana Chicken Sausage Pizza (Rm35) came colorfully loaded with generous servings of toppings – slices of pulled chicken, mushrooms, onions, capsicum, jalepenos and cheese. There were plenty to go around, 6 slices to be shared between the 4 of us. The pizza base was a little dense for my liking however. Fluff it up please!Be prepared with your cameras and phones! Just for show – presenting a BBQ roasted chicken, ploped steadily on a bean can, then flammed with vodka right before your eyes. The waiter will then bring the flamed chicken back into the kitchen, chopped it into quarters, then served, alongside homemade baked beans and coleslaw. The Bean Can Roasted Free Range Chicken (Rm60) was fantastic. The meat was moist, juicy and flavorsome. A compulsary and show-stopping order if you’d ask me.I was craving for steaks for the longest time and our 250gm Australian Grilled Grassfed Ribeye Steak in BLVD House Style (Rm95) did not disapppoint – also my favorite dish of the evening. We had it done medium rare and it’d came out just right. It had pleasant marbling, toothsome textures and the BLVD House style sauce that we opted for, was srumptious. Served with truffle mushroom ragout, confit garlic, roasted cherry heirloom tomatoes. With a fancy schmancy name like Oozing Ovomaltine Beignets & Vanila Cinammon Sugar (Rm20), I had no clue what that meant nor what to expect. Let me put it this way, the five balls of deep fried choux pastry (or donuts balls) stuffed with melted ovaltine, was a sweet ending, though nothing to shout about in my humble opinion. The salted caramel ice cream on the other hand was marvelous.
Overall Rating: 8/10. Despite the less than favorable reviews I’ve read about online, my meal that evening was fantastic. The Bean Can Roasted Free Range Chicken and the Ribeye Steak especially. So-so gratifying. Apart from that, service was flawless throughout dinner, though our table for 4 felt incredible cramp for the number of dishes we ordered. I will be back for the much talked about foie gras and unagi dish. Where else can you get such an exquisite pairing?
