Touted as ‘the new Bangsar’, the up-and-coming neighbourhood of TTDI is quietly seeing the introduction of restaurants that are worth a visit. Interlude is the latest addition to the must-explore list, and there’s definitely a host of reasons to drive out to this French-inspired tapas bar.
Pumpkin and Potato Shoestring Fries (RM10)Helmed by Chef Rabin, who cut his teeth at the luxury Windsor Hotel in Melbourne, Interlude’s interiors are an injection of Collins St and hideaway bars, in a laidback setting. “We want to bring quality food at a reasonable price,” he explains.

You could drop in for a quick nibble, or thoroughly investigate the ingenious cocktail selection, with something to mop up the fruits of your research.

Interlude’s version of the classic mojito ticks all the boxes – icy, minty and packs an alcoholic punch. Staying on the cooling front, the Green Winter Fresh is a great choice for those with a sweeter tooth. A mix of vodka and Triple Sec served with cucumber, this easy-to-drink choice was a winner in my books. The Tokyo Iced Tea is another welcome option, filled with a heady mix of vodka, tequila, gin, rum, and Midori. Those with a stronger stomach for liquor can attempt to take on Interlude’s own Angelique Martini – made with Angelique absinthe, vodka, Redbull and Ribena to even out the stronger flavours. Given that I was driving that day, I barely put a dent in this one.

The carrot pappardelle, served with a carrot and orange puree, has a semi-creamy aftertaste, while the oregano and mint adds a twist to the carrot-centric flavours.

Headlining the carne options is the 17-hour slow cooked pork belly – an outstanding choice if there ever was one. The painstaking effort that goes into the making of this exquisite dish is reason enough to sample it. Served with grated egg white, and a gribiche inspired sauce, the flavours combine for a stunning finish. If this were an NBA game, the pork belly gets the MVP award.

A fusion of east-meets-west, the bisque itself boasts an intense laksa flavour, alongside the smooth tastes of this creamy French soup. The presentation of this frothy dish helps with the pleasing of the senses.

Available in succulent pork, beef and chicken patties, these cute mini-burgers are served with shallot ginger jam, on homemade brioche buns. Similarly, the skinny pasta trio – served aglio olio, with homemade pesto, and with lemon respectively – adds a little more weight to a tapas-style dinner.

A (somewhat) healthier alternative to regular wedges, these babies are made in-house and taste even better once you dunk them into the creamy, garlic aioli it comes served with.

Layered up in a dreamy concoction, dig deep into the centre of the martini glass for a taste of gooey, decadent chocolate.

The icing on the cake? All prices are nett, so there’s no hassle of adding tax to everything item on the bill. #Win.
