Gobo Chit Chat, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Gobo Chit Chat is Traders Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. Offering sumptuous buffet spreads for breakfast, lunch and dinner and, an a la carte menu in between, the team here makes sure you never go hungry.
Featuring a sushi bar, Thai appetizer buffet, open noodle kitchen and bakery, a mosaic of cuisines from around the world await to tempt your taste buds into trying them all.
A unique 10 metre high curved ceiling, and a kaleidoscope of lights gently illuminate the area. Natural light, pale walls and pine coloured wood further form an atmosphere that is bright and cheery. Displays too have their tinge of fun with salad dressings presented in test tubes, chefs wearing iconic symbols of the region where the cuisine is from that they’re preparing, and quirky photos of staff on a picture wall having fun with food.
Salad DressingsChefs Having Fun with FoodIt’s a tough decision knowing where to start. Browse the buffet or go straight for table service?
The Thai Beef Salad made on the spot, table service style, is salivatingly scrumptious. Adjust the mix with more or less chili, omitting or adding herbs and vegetables to your liking. The limy dressing is tangy and the beef slices superbly tender and fresh.
Thai Beef SaladThe sushi bar with its assortment of rolls, sashimi, teriyaki and tempura is not to be missed either. You can take from the batch the chef has just made, or ask for a roll made to order. The deep fried prawns were particularly good and hubby had repeats of the miso soup.
From the Japanese SectionThe noodle station is another you can optimize to suite your personal preferences. A chef on hand will make your bowl as you request or help guide your choices with some of his own recipes. The clear broth is toothsome and comforting. Additional veges, proteins and other condiments allow you to customize to your fancy. Found here too is the grill. Hubby joyfully chose a plate full of meats and gave instructions for exactly how he’d like them cooked.
Noodle StationBowl of Soupy NoodlesThe GrillFrom the GrillThe Chinese spread was another hit. On top of the freshly steamed fish and butter prawns (of which hubby happily consumed too many) were an appetizing range of dim sum too. If I weren’t so health conscious the steamed buns and glutinous rice would have merited return helpings.
Steamed Bun and Glutinous RiceA likable cheese assortment too made me happy. What was even better though was a huge pot of cheesy fondue! That’s not often seen in buffets in KL. Mushrooms, cucumber and bread on sticks were ready for the whirling. The dip was not an overpowering dressing, but creamy with just enough seasoning to make you want to scrape the edges of the bowl.
Cheese DisplayCheese FondueYou can’t leave without sweets knowing that everything is made in house. Cheesecake, crème brulee, cakes, puddings, and some local favourites are colourful calorie laden endings.
Dessert BuffetChocolate Cherry TartThe evening buffet is priced at RM98 ++ per person including tea and coffee. Other beverages, such as freshly squeezed juices, soft drinks and wines are extra.
