Menya Musashi Ramen, a place that always deluded us when we wanted to have dinner there, mainly because of it’s long queue in front of the shop during dinner time. That’s actually a good sign, since a queue means that the food must be good, right?
Kendric all hype up with the ramen. A quick peek on their menu gives a quite a number of selections, ranging from set lunches to ala-carte orders. There’s also a choices of 4 soup base to go with the ramen. White (Onion Flavour Oil), Black (Special Oil Combined of Fried Shallots and Garlic Flavour Oil), Red (Home Made Musashi Chilli Flavour Oil) and Yellow (Curry Flavour Soup Base). Most of us settle for the dinner set, which came with a few side dishes as well.
Aka Chashu Ramen (RM30), 2 pieces of chashu and ajitama (Japanese semi hard boiled egg, which leave the yolk runny). It’s an obvious choice for May’s dad, who loves chilly as much as I do. The soup base however we thought is not as rich as the White or Black soup base.
Kuro Chashu Ramen, everything is the same less the egg. Seems like if you order the sets, the portion of ramen served is without the egg but nevertheless, the soup base is rich and full of tonkotsu flavour. The noodles are spongy, just nice!
Shiro Chashu Ramen, the white soup base. A little milder is taste but still packed with flavours.
Salad that comes with the sets. Nice crunchy vegetables with sesame dressing.
While the place is famed for it’s ramen, I have to give 2 thumbs up for this bowl of Pork Teriyaki Rice. The pork are tender and full of flavour, goes well with the fluffy steamed rice.
Kendric and Kayden enjoying their ramen.
The Gyoza and Chicken Kaarage is pretty decent too, although the chicken took quite a while to be serve. The dinner sets are pretty filling, hence it’s also advisable to share.
It’s a nice ramen place, and goes head to head with the likes of Kyo-Ei, Yamagoya, Ramen Santouka and Goku Raku Ramen. There’s also Ippudo too…which I haven’t really give it a proper review yet. Will definitely drop by Menya again if we fancy a bowl of ramen at 1 Utama next time!
