We initially wanted to celebrate my birthday this year at Thirty8, but decided other wise because I’ve work and wanted to celebrate it with my bunch of friends instead, but the thought of dining on top of KL skyline is always something May always wanted to do. So we decided to head over to Fuego @ Troika Sky Dining for our 6th ROM Anniversary.
Fuego along with a few other restaurants is located on the 24th floor of The Troika and is an al-fresco South American theme restaurant.
The thought of dining open air is daunting, but thankfully it’s not as hot as it seemed because of the countless fans available to chill patrons down. The view is perfect, overlooking the KLCC park, which could be our very own version of NY Central Park?
As starters, we ordered The Fuego Guacamole (RM20), made with freshly diced avocado, green chili, tomato, cilantro, garlic and lime, served with a mix of vegetable crisp. Tasted refreshing and rich with the buttery smooth avocado, great start!
Cerviche, is famous throughout South America, which consist of ultra-fresh, raw fish cooked by the acidity of lemon or lime. The Malabar Snapper Cerviche (RM35) that we ordered is super fresh, and tasty, especially if you like raw fish like me and it’s definitely something new.
Smoked Snails is the Jar (RM30) is pretty special in it’s own way. The snails are enclosed in a jar where it’s smoked till it’s cooked, with parsley salsa, pickled garlic and garlic crisps.
We ate watermelons most of the time, but this is definitely a first. Grilled Watermelon (RM30)m where the watermelons are grilled with pickled tomatoes, fried halloumi and raspberry vinegar glaze on top. A very refreshing small eat and packs so much flavour.
Snap shot of us while waiting for the mains.
Australian Grass Fed Rib-Eye (RM110) is tasty on it’s own, but the accompanied red wine and grelot onion sauce is great as well.
Portobello Mushroom (RM25) is ample for a main course with it’s serving and fill May up to the brim.
Not a bad view to have your anniversary dinner right?
We end the night with Fuego Churros (RM35), cinnamon dust churros, dulcey cremeux and salted caramel espuma. This is only the 2nd time me tasting churros but I’m loving every inch of it because of it’s donuty texture. The salted caramel and cremeux dip is sweet and flavourful and makes it a sinful dessert.
Dinner was great and I thought the price was pretty ok. Now that we’ve dined in some of the top places in KL, the next one will maybe be somewhere on the otherside of the view.
