Easy House Cafe at Ipoh Parade Roof Top

If you happen to have a chance to visit Ipoh, I think Ipoh Parade will be a place that is best for you to shop here. This place is actually the hot spot for most of the youngster cause it is located at the center of a few secondary schools. This place is famous for shopping no doubt but how about the restaurants they have inside? If you are looking for something local, I would like to recommend Easy House cafe to you. It is located at the roof top of Ipoh Parade.

I took this picture quite some time already. It was around Christmas time, I went there with my parents. I can still remember, it was a memorable family day. What we had that day were as below

Ipoh Pengkalan Pasar Malam Part II

I introduced what food we have in Ipoh pengkalan pasar malam (night market) in my part I blog. In part II, I will write about the desserts as I promised. Since most of the time people go to pasar malam for dessert, so now I emphasize more on some special desserts in pengkalan pasar malam.

The picture above depicts a special Taiwanese dessert with the name "snowy", in Chinese we call it as 雪花冰. As you can see in the picture, the "snow" is actually not in white color, it is yellowish in stead. According to the stall owner, the snow is made up of Valina and just because of that, it is sweet. Beside that, there are many flavors for you to choose.

Ipoh Sun Yuan Loong White Coffee

Guess what!~This time I am going to introduce one of the most famous food (Oops, sorry, it's should be drink) in Ipoh, which is the Sun Yuan Loong White Coffee. Frankly speaking, I seldom visit this restaurant but this time due to my KL uncle suggestion, we had our breakfast there. Do you feel curious of why I seldom go there even though they are so famous? Look at the picture below, you will find out the answer:p

See!~Crazy man, full of people!~ That morning, we hardly found a place to sit. Guess where we sat? Haha!~We sat beside the road.

Ipoh Pengkalan Pasar Malam I

For the past two weeks, I went back to my hometown Ipoh to spend my Uni holiday. Every time when I go back home, other than my parents, one person will be very happy. This lovely girl is my younger cousin. She likes to go pasar malam very much and I am the only one who will bring her there. We of course will always go to the nearest pasar malam which is the one located in Pengkalan, operates every thursday night. This is a typical Malaysia Chinese night market cause you can find all sort of malaysian Chinese food over there.

Ipoh Mah Chee and Peanut paste

"Mah Chee" (cantonese) is also one of the local food in Ipoh. I am not sure I can find any Mah Chee in other part of Malaysia but this stall is always be my favorite one in Ipoh. (Hmmm... is this the only stall in Malaysia? HeHe, I am not so sure:P).

The Hong Kee Mah Chee is owned by this couple. They were very friendly when I requested for the photo taking. See her smiling face!~

Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum

Another hot spot for dim sum in Ipoh will be Ming Court. After reading the Foh San blog written by kampungboycitygirl, it inspired me to introduce this restaurant to all the readers. This place is also always full of people, so my advice is go early. This time I went there with my whole family including all aunties and uncles. So I think I can show you more pictures.

This picture shows you the "Chah Siew Pau" from Ming Court. This is also one of their famous dim sum. Wah, I will feel hungry no matter how many time I look at this picture. What do you think?

This is the yam cake which is my favorite among all. Yummy!~

This is so-called "Wu Kok" in cantonese. The crispy skin is made of yam and it is stuffed with lean pork meat.

The Really Delicious Siew Pau and Curry Puff in Ipoh

If you happen to have a chance to visit Ipoh, please try this pastry shop. It is also located in Old Town Ipoh. Their signature will be the curry puff. Other pastries will be siew pau, egg tart and kaya puff. They also sell fried ice-cream which I think is quite special.

The above is their "Siew Pau". Siew Pau is a type of Chinese pastry which is baked outside and stuffed with some sweet sauce with pork meat inside. I chose to introduce their siew pau rather than the curry puff first is because I think that thier siew pau is far different from normal seremban siew pau. Let take a close look at the stuff inside.

The sweet sauce inside is juicy which is its specialty compare to normal dry sauce, this is really worth a try.

You Deserve A Trophy

Let's me introduce my favorite ice-cream to you, it is "You Deserve A Trophy" from Nestle. Since I am a strawberry lover and i tried many other strawberry ice-cream before, I think this Nestle ice-cream is the best among others. There are other flavor also including chocolate for the same series .

Their pink color packaging is very attractive to all the strawberry lover. I think girls particular love it. I think it should be a good gift for your girl friend if she is in a bad mood. I personally will get happy after getting this ice-cream.

Smooth and milky strawberry flavor ice-cream surrounded by chocolate chips. Best combination!~

You can get it from any petrol mini mart or any Nestle retailers. So why wait? Get one as your dessert now... :P

Sun Seng Fatt Curry Hor Fun in Ipoh

I would say the best Ipoh curry will be the Sun Seng Fatt curry which is also located in Ipoh Old Town. Thier signature dish will be their curry Hor Fun.

Hor Fun (Cantonese) is a type of noodle made from rice. Ipoh Hor Fun tasted nicer than KL Hor Fun is because Ipoh Hor Fun is thinner, more slippery and more chewy.

This fine meal feature shows the dry curry Hor Fun. As you can see, there are big prawns, mint leaf and sliced chicken over a bed of the curry Hor Fun. Their curry is thick but not very spicy. If you can't take spicy curry but you like curry, I would strongly recommend this dish to you.

This will be the Hor Fun in curry soup. This is another thumb up dish. Coming up next will be the famous Ipoh bean sprouts.

My Father's Favorite Popiah in Ipoh

There is a place in Ipoh that is very famous with their food. This place is the Ipoh Old Town. There are many stalls operate in the morning until afternoon. One of the kopitiam will be Kong Heng restaurant. Inside there, there is a popiah stall named "Zhong ji". This stall is very well-known to malaysian as well as singaporian. It is also my father most favorite popiah. He always says that this is the best popiah he has ever tried.

Picture above shows the "Zhong Ji" popiah. Popiah is Hokkian style fresh spring roll. The skin is made up of rice flour and it is usually stuffed with shredded omelette, cucumber, sengkuang and sliced carrot and etc. But for "Zhong Ji", thier various ingredients are sliced cucumber, dried prawns, fried onions, shredded omelette and sengkuang.

Ipoh Most Famous Instant Chee Cheong Fun + the making

Today I am going to bring you to the most famous Chee Cheong Fun in Ipoh. For your information, I come from Ipoh and I was staying in Pasir Pinji last time. From knowing from background, trust me that I will only bring you the best in Ipoh.

This stall is located in Jalan Pasir Pinji 5 and I was living in Jalan Pasir Pinji 2 last time but I seldom went to this stall cause it would always spend me at least 1 hour for the meal. Their most famous thing is thier instant cooking of their Chee Cheong Fun. This stall is owned by an old couple. The wife is responsible to cut the Chee Cheong Fun and mix it with sauses whereas the husband is making the Chee Cheong Fun at the back of the house.

The Fresh Grilled Fish in Broga Kajang

Today I am going to bring you to eat fish just beside a lake. You can enjoy the meal and at the same time watch fishes swimming freely in the water. Yes, this is a wonderful place to eat grilled fish. It is located in a very remote area where it does not even exist in the map. To get to this place, you have to know the location of a very famous chinese temple in Broga Kajang. This temple is with the name "shi na tok". After you reach the front gate of the temple, take a turn to your left and go straight and you can see the restaurant on your left.

This is the view taken from the restaurant.

As you can see from the picture, the dining place is just located beside the lake.

Traditional Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih

After finished reading fried-tomato's blog about Mee Hoon Kuih, it reminded me about one famous Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih- Chia Kee Restaurant .Their Mee Hoon Kuih is very stretchy and tender. There are a lot of this kind of stalls in Semenyih but i think this is one of the best among all the stalls. Other than selling Mee Hun Kuih, they also sell fried noodles, Wan Tan Mee, Yee Mee and etc.

Mee Hoon Kuih is a Hokkien dish. It is also known as Pan Meen and when people say about Mee Hoon Kuih, it means the dough is tore into pieces. The picture shows the typical Mee Hoon Kuih served with sayur manis and fried-anchovies in soup that I tried. I think they use anchovies(ikan bilis) as the main ingredient for the soup and because of that, it is sweet. Besides, they able to manage the timing of cooking very well because without the right timing, the Mee Hoon Kuih will come out sticky.

The Best Satay in Kajang

It was a busy evening. I was so tired and felt like skipping my dinner then I received a call from my buddie. Guess what? They told me that they were going to try the best satay in town! I decided to go without any consideration cause I didn't want to miss this golden opportunity to try best food. He he!~ After half and hour, we reached this place at the town of Kajang.

This was the stall that we went. There were four of us. However, we ordered 80 sticks of satay, 30 lambs and 50 chickens. Yeah yeah, there were a lot, haha!~ While I was waiting, I took an opportunity to take down pictures when the chef was cooking.

Special Chicken from China Shaoxing

This time, I would like to introduce one special dish that I found it in Semenyih Kajang. This restaurant is located near to the Semenyih pasar pagi which is very famous with their Huadio Chicken and Spicy Soup. Since they are good in these two dishes, my friends and I ordered for these two.

This delicous looking picture shows Huadiao chicken which served with a claypot and some scallions on top. This chicken is cooked with a special ingredient which is a yellow wine called Huadiao originates from Shaoxing China. This wine evolved from the Shaoxing tradition of burying the wine underground when a daughter was born and this wine Chinese call them as Nu Er Hong. Since this wine will be used during the wedding banquet when the daughter got married, the containers would then be decorated with bright colors and hence we call it huadiao. Even though this chicken is cooked with wine but it is not bittering. In fact, it is sweet and delicious.

The World of Dim Sum

It was one last saturday morning, I had a strong feeling of eating dim sam as my breakfast so I decided to go to a restaurant located in Klang, the Restoran Mexim. I would like to recommend this restaurant to the readers because their dim sam are very special and their price is also reasonable.

What is so good about eating dim sam is the speed of serving. It is fast cause the dim sam are always ready and being steamed to keep it hot. Once I sat down, I immediately chose a few of special dim sam.

This fine meal feature shows three pieces of dim sam that were stuffed with prawns. The best thing about this dim sam is their skins are thin unlike other ordinary dim sam that has thick skin.
